Whenever you make the mistake of getting married for the incorrect reasons, your union has less of a chance to survive for very long. In their search for a perfect spouse, people look for those who they reckon will make them pleased in the long run. The best reason for marrying someone is since you like them so much that you want to devote your life to making them pleased. Unless you’re a very selfless person, you will likely find it too trying to place your partner’s needs and happiness above your own.
If you’re looking for the strength to pull this off, then you only have to look at the Bible. No matter what type of problems that you experience in your marriage, you must be able to use the following quotes to help get through them.
1. Mark 8:36 – “What excellent is it for a man to gain the whole world yet forfeit his own soul?” It is not necessary for people to place their own identities on the back burner in order to devote their lives to their partner.
2. I Corinthians 13:4&5 – “Like is patient, like is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” You simply need to read this verse a few times in order to know everything you need to know.
3. I Corinthians 7:27 – “Are you married? Do not seek a divorce.” It’s not that hard to know this verse either. To divorce is to directly go against His will, no matter what the mores of the world may tell you.
4. Proverbs 15:17 – “Better a meal of vegetables everywhere there is like than a fattened calf with hatred.” You certainly shouldn’t use financial problems as a reason to get divorced. Couples vow to stay with each other through thick and thin so remember your promise.
5. Luke 6:37 – “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven”. Although this message was delivered specificaly in regards to people you view as enemies, it also applies to those who you like too.
